• Start Up and Accreditation Pack

    The BeLonG To Start Up and Accreditation Pack is a guide designed to provide practical steps, useful tools, and resources for starting and running an LGBT youth group that meets good practice standards. It has already been successfully used by many services and organisations to start youth groups across Ireland. This is the 2nd edition, building on the experience of the first pack, which was in place from 2007 to 2014.

    We offer a step-by-step, clear and practical guide to developing an LGBT youth group based on the experiences and lessons learned in developing our own services.

    This guide centres on the BeLonG To's National Quality Standard for LGBT Youth Work, which ensures that LGBT youth groups are safe, education focused spaces, in which young people’s needs are at the groups centre.

    The Start Up and Accreditation Pack has three parts:

    • Part One: Starting an LGBT Youth Group - everything you need to know to start an LGBT youth group;

    • Part Two: Attaining Accreditation – information on how to get your LGBT youth group accredited by BeLonG To through our National Quality Standard in LGBT Youth Work;

    • Part Three: Guidance Documents – practical resources for staff, management and steering group members.
