A documentary was made about the emergence of a visible LGBT community and Pride celebration. You can watch all three parts of the documentary here via youtube.
The documentary is an important record of the work done by members of the LGBT community from the 1980's up to the end of the millennium, with a particular focus on what it was like to set up a Pride Festival (Bród) in Galway, and what it means to have such a festival.
Two people associated with shOUT! were involved with the documentary. One of our volunteers Jo McNamarra is one of the people interviewws, and the documentary came from an idea by Jo to use audio interviews of people who worked to build up the LGBT community links between live acts at an event for Bród 2006: Can Le Bród.
Volunteer and occasional staff member Eamon Brett took Jo's idea and reworked and expanded it into a full documentary interviewing those those persons from the LGBT community who helped to shape and build a visible LGBT presence in Galway.
